This afternoon we hosted our very first parent carer afternoon of the year. It was lovely to have Chrissy attend as our previous steering group’s parent representative and go through the process of handing down the baton to another parent. Chrissy has been representing parents on the group for many years and has fully committed to the role. We thank Chrissy very much.

The focus of the afternoon was to give parents the opportunity to feedback on some renewed policies as we want to ensure they are being implemented across the board.

We presented the following polices:

  • Preventing bullying
  • Anti-racism and equality
  • PSHE
  • RSHE

We took on parental feedback and are currently working on our anti-bullying pledge which we will look at further next week as it will be anti-bullying week.

Parents participated in a PSHE lesson on cyberbullying with their children and got to see the teaching in action.

We also shared our new global cooking initiative with parents. We are aiming to publish a Gloucester House cook book which documents all the recipes cooked by our pupils this year. We have had a global theme and have asked staff and parents to share favourite recipes from home and childhood. This is an opportunity for children to share something from their own heritage and culture and a chance to experience a different culture through food.

We would like to see more parents attend these afternoons in the future, the next one will take place on Tuesday 1st February 2022.
